We have a Fort Worth client that is in need of an .Net Application Developer who has done some complicated scientific or engineering applications, not just the usual read/write from a database and add a few reports.  

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required (Please explain briefly)

At least 7 years experience designing and developing highly configurable business applications utilizing object oriented languages.  At least 3 of these years should be using C# .Net. Experience should include interfacing with relational databases, such as SQL Server or Oracle, including complex SQL statement development.

At least 5 years experience working directly with clients to understand their needs, preferably in an Oil and Gas Engineering environment.  Must be able to communicate at an appropriate level and translate what was understood into high quality software.

Desirable knowledge includes Postscript and Aries software from Landmark.

Duties & Responsibilities (Please explain briefly)

Responsible for technical support for the Engineering Reserves team.  Main responsibilities will be enhancing and supporting web and windows based applications that extend the functionality of the Aries application and databases using C#.Net and SQL Server.  

Will also be responsible for writing ad hoc programs to support the needs of the clients throughout the Reserves reporting cycle.

The demand for finance sector IT staff has fallen 6% in the fourth quarter of 2010, despite industry recruitment levels increasing 21% compared to a year ago.

According to a Computer Weekly report from Salary Services Limited (SSL) and JobsAdWatch.co.uk, the finance sector is the only private sector to see recruitment levels fall in the fourth quarter compared to the previous quarter. All other sectors experienced an increase in demand.

The number of jobs advertised for software houses and consultancies increased by 8%.

George Molyneaux, research director at SSL, said, "This growth may well be at the expense of jobs in finance as they transfer operations and development to outsourcing companies."

The number of IT job appointments jumped significantly last month, according to a major survey.

The monthly Report on Jobs for January, from KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) showed that demand for permanent IT and computing workers had increased the most out of all the industries, compared to the previous month.

Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG, said: The latest figures are encouraging. Employers across all sectors have been expanding their workforce in January, with no real pressure building on wage inflation.

Importantly, there was a real bounce from the previous month’s figures for blue collar, engineering and IT-related jobs.

But despite the uplift, Brown was cautious, believing that impending public sector job cuts, VAT rises and a slow economic growth were all factors contributing to a volatile UK jobs market over the next few months.

It is too early to speculate whether these are the signs of a private sector-led recovery, he warned.

Network Engineer III

Job Description:

This position will be primarily responsible for day to day operations including but not limited to, internal projects, advanced trouble shooting of network and VoIP related issues, monitoring, patch management, standards, and documentation.

·     Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks.

·     Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

·     Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks on both Cisco (IOS) and Juniper (JUNOS) platforms.

·     Develops and maintains systems, applications, security and network configurations.

·     Utilizes current network monitoring systems to troubleshoot network performance issues and works with senior staff members to create and maintain disaster recovery plans.

·     Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.

·     Provides technical support and guidance to users.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4-6 years experience in the field or related area (Additional experience may be substituted for degree)
  • In-depth knowledge of network security, wireless devices, routing principals and network architecture with a working knowledge of Voice over IP (VoIP) and some specialization with networking components such as routers, switches, firewalls and etc.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of Juniper and Cisco hardware.
  • Must have experience with PCI compliance and security
  • Prefer certification in VoIP or other Network technologies
  • Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices and procedures
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to produce detailed network diagrams using MS Visio
  • Demonstrated ability to coach/guide junior team members

·     Provides guidance to junior staff members.

·     Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

·     Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security and network configurations.

·     Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains disaster recovery plans.

·     Responsible for upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.

·     Provides technical support and guidance to users.

Requirements:

·     Bachelor’s degree and 6-8 years experience in networking and a minimum of 3 years experience with network security

·     Experience with two or more of the following: Juniper SRXs, Netscalers, Imperva WAF, and Juniper UAC.

·     Experienced with a variety of the fields’ concepts, practices and procedures.

·     Experience with PCI

·     Must have excellent communication and documentation skills

·     Security related certifications desired.

·     3+ years in a leadership role.

Direct-hire Sr Desktop Engineer Opportunity with a Great Company in Grapevine, TX

SUMMARY
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the architecture, implementation, management, and support of desktop platforms and connected systems. This position responds to escalated support requests that require an expert level of experience for troubleshooting and/or resolution, and works on a variety of projects including: software deployments, new platform research, reporting, and architecting new processes related to the platform. The Desktop Engineer works under general supervision to ensure the stability of the platform and minimize the downtime of the platforms used by all users.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        
Resolve escalated incidents efficiently to minimize down time, and provide support documentation to front line support in order to reduce the number of escalated incidents.

·         Initiate escalation of severe service problems as appropriate with vendors or other organizational groups and ensure management and Help Desk remain informed until the problem is resolved.

·         Manage day-to-day and project tasks including Patch Management, Software Packaging and Distribution, maintaining OS deployment processes, process automation and ad-hoc reporting.

·         Ensure proper compliance with Sarbanes – Oxley and PCI regulations in order to pass audits.

·         Ensure adequate training and documentation is provided to customers (other IT groups and business units) on solutions provided to empower them to maximize the solution’s value and reduce incidents.

·         Partner with other IT groups or business units to identify platform design requirements, support processes and software requirements.

·         Architect and implement solutions and processes for client systems that minimize support costs and maximize up-time and customer productivity.

·         Work with software and hardware vendors to identify and implement solutions for use and integration into production, test, and QA systems to meet business needs, reduce costs, reduce incidents, and increase productivity.

·         Continually identify opportunities for process improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

·         Satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeps up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.

·         High School Diploma or GED required

·         At least 3 years of IT support experience in a Windows 2000, XP, Win7 environment consisting of 300+ workstations required

·         Must be able and willing to work additional hours and weekends as business needs require

·         Must be able to participate in a rotating “on-call” rotation and accept calls after hours and on weekends

·         Microsoft Certification in at least one area related to the position such as MCSE or MSDST preferred

·         Must know scripting and at least 1 programming language (VB6, C#  or VB.net preferred)

·         Demonstrated customer service expert with the ability to interact with all levels of users from front line to executive

·         Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities

·         Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English

·         Proficient knowledge of scripting using VBScript

·         Proficient knowledge of Application and OS patching methods

·         Demonstrated ability to take ownership of an issue and follow it through to resolution

·         Working ability to remain effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

·         Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization

·         Proficient knowledge of performing SQL queries

·         Proficient with technical writing with the ability to create and maintain documentation of support instructions and processes

·         Proficient in reading and comprehending printed data/information in software manuals and documents, and data/information displayed on a PC monitor.

·         Proficient in recognizing discrepancies in written/recorded data/information.

·         Working knowledge of Operating System deployment methods

·         Working knowledge of Software packaging and deployment methods

·         Working knowledge of coding and compiling executables using tools such as Visual Basic, C++, C# or an equivalent preferred

·         Working knowledge of how to build web interfaces using HTML, ASP, ASP.NET or an equivalent preferred

·         Working ability to support one or more of the following products; McAfee ePO/AntiVirus, PGP, Remoteware, Service Desk Express, BigFix, Tivoli preferred

·         Working knowledge of WMI and other low level Microsoft technologies to remotely manage client systems preferred

·         Experience as a Remoteware Administrator highly preferred.

·         Experience supporting store systems (point of sale, customer facing kiosks, digital signage, etc) is a plus.

·         Consistently demonstrates a commitment to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, and ethical responsibilities
